![]() Although many of these devices are portrayed unrealistically, one in particular appears remarkably prescient. The button labeled G, short for Go Homing Robot (ギズモ号, Gizumo-gō, Gizmo), launches a robotic bird (what today we would call a drone) from the hood of the car. The homing robot is capable of extended flight, carrying objects or tape recorded messages, either internally or externally. It is operated by a set of controls located within the center console of the Mach 5. The homing robot is controlled via a joystick, two unlabeled switches and a button labeled H, Homing Device (ホーミング, Hōmingu, Homing), that commands the homing robot to fly "home" to a pre-programmed location, typically Speed Racer's house.
